Behavior Plan

In my classroom, I follow a love and logic scale. This means that I allow children to be responsible for their own actions and provide them with positive choices. When an expectation is not followed, I typically reply with a positive, rather than negative statement. The positive statement usually reminds students of what they are expected to do. I find that telling students what you would like them to do is more effective than telling them to stop doing something else.

ClassDojo! This is one of my favorite programs we use in our classroom. It is a fun and interactive way to keep track of your child's behavior. Parents will receive an invitation to connect with our classroom CLASS DOJO account in the beginning of the year. This behavior system is spectacular! The students earn points for positive behavior and they will be working towards specific goals to earn rewards.

The best part about class dojo is that it is a completely online program. The students will become very proficient with our smartboard. I love technology and feel that it is an essential tool these students need. An even more exciting part about class dojo is that once you connect with our class you will get weekly reports on your child’s behavior, and can check on your child's progress daily! I am very excited about this program and am looking forward to utilizing it in our classroom.

Our Classroom Expectations

I will do my best.

I will listen and follow directions the first time.

I will raise my hand to speak.

I will walk inside.

I will help others.

I will use sweet and kind words.

*Please know that I understand this may be your child's first experience in a classroom setting.

Kindergarten is the time where children are learning what is expected of them in school. Your child can receive 1 behavior reminder before losing a Class Dojo point. During the beginning of the year I spend weeks setting very clear expectations on what constitutes the loss of a Class Dojo point.

Wally Koally is our class mascot! If your child meets all expectations, it might be their turn to be the STAR STUDENT. This student gets to take Wally home for the weekend. :) We love seeing the pictures of Wally with your family!
